After 98 years on this earth, Betty Leon Huntebrinker was called on May 22, 2017 to join in heaven her husband, Bernard and her long time friend, Florence Heinig. Betty was born on April 1, 1919. She was the youngest child of funeral director Bert and Rose Leon. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Leon; and her sisters, Ruth Tillotson, Norma Neift, Marion Delye, Dorothy Kilinski, and their spouses. Betty is survived by her children, Bernard Huntebrinker, Jr. (Peg) of Sylvania, Bert Huntebrinker (Cathy) of Stronghurst, IL and Beverly Greaf of Largo, FL; four grandchildren, Deb (Todd) Altic, Paul Huntebrinker, Bret (Ellen) Huntebrinker, and Chad (Tracy) Huntebrinker; eleven great grandchildren, Britton, Haley, Tyler and Sydney Altic; Lexi, Kenzie, Gianna, Vaughn, Kolbe, Mason, and Cole Huntebrinker; nieces, nephews, and many friends, especially from United Commercial Travelers 694. Betty worked over 25 years at Owens Illinois in Toledo as an executive secretary. Early in her working career she worked for Graphic Arts Corporation of Toledo. After losing much of her sight to macular degeneration, her constant companion were her talking books. In their 80s Betty and her husband Bernard struck out on a new adventure moving to Largo, FL. She was a long time member of First United Church of Christ in Toledo and then Faith Community UCC. At Faith UCC many years ago she and Florence Heinig started the Good Bunch at the church, which still is active with senior activities decades later. She, her husband Bernard, and friend Florence traveled from the east to the west coast. Visitation for family and friends of Betty will be held in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Friday, May 26 from 12 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bettys name are kindly requested to Franciscan Care Center, Toledo, or Hospice of NW Ohio. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sister Jordan and all the staff at Franciscan Care Center for their compassionate care and support.
