Betty G. Hern

Betty G. Hern, 88, of Englewood, FL and formerly of Port Clinton, OH passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in Englewood, FL. Betty was born in Columbus, OH on May 23, 1921 to William H. and Helen Louise Davis Gregory. On September 2, 1940 in Bucyrus, OH she married James A. Hern, Sr. and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1995. Betty was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. and Elks Lodge, all of Englewood, FL. Prior to moving to Florida, both Betty and her husband James were avid boaters of Lake Erie. Survivors include: son: James A. Jane Hern, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, daughter: Mrs. Roger Gloria Basil of Catawba Island; grandchildren: Dianna Bill Backus and James A. Hern III both of Albuquerque, NM, R.J. Basil of Catawba Island and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband James. Memorial services for Betty will be conducted by Rev. James Lehman at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Betty may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH or Stein Hospice.
