Betty J. Gurney

Betty J. Gurney, age 81 of Ottawa Hills passed away Thursday September 15, 2011 in St. Anne Mercy Hospital. She was born January 8, 1930 in Toledo to Sherman and Nancy Price Meredith. A graduate of DeVilbiss High School, she studied music at the University of Toledo and played in their orchestra. She was also a professional model earlier in her life. She enjoyed swimming and tennis and was a member of Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club and continued her love of swimming later at Brandywine Country Club. She enjoyed traveling and was a loving mother and great friend to her husband and son. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Anthony Tony Gurney and son Christopher Gurney. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave, west of Corey on Sunday from 2-7 PM. Funeral services will be private. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association.
