Betty Joan Schmidt Gundersen

Betty Joan Schmidt Gundersen, age 92, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Elizabeth Scott Community. She was born on January 13, 1920 in Beaverdam, Ohio to Harry and Faith Elliott Davis. Joan worked as a medical assistant until she met and married her husband, Carl Schmidt. After marriage, she went to work with her husband at the Carl Schmidt Chevrolet Dealership in Perrysburg. She ran the business while her husband served in WWII. Joan continued working to assist Carl until he passed away in 1965. She later married Arnold Gundersen in 1969. Joan was a member of Eastern Star and Dendorah of the Shrine, L.O.S. She was a past member of the New Hope Church of Christ, Holland, Ohio. Joan is survived by her sons, Robert E. Lynn Schmidt and William H. Anne Schmidt ; step-children, Karen and David; grandchildren, Charles, John Kirk, Carl Keri, Sarah, Andrew and Michael; great-grandchildren, D.J., Joseph, Christopher, Grace and Charlie; special nephew, Philip C. Davis and other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Carl and Arnold; brother, Harry O. Davis; and sister, Janet Crego. Friends and family may visit on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 3 to 8 pm at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Master, window fund, 28744 Simmons Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
