Betty A. Cuevas, of Elmore, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, March 13, 2025, at the age of 90, after a lingering illness. Born in Woodville, Ohio on February 8, 1935, she was the daughter of S. Harley and Clarabelle (Grider) Todd.
Betty started her working career at the former Ottawa Basket Factory in Elmore and later at the Atlas Engine Works, where she met the love of her life, Pedro L. Cuevas. They were married in Monroe, Michigan on April 15, 1960, and spent the next 54 years together. Pedro was a truck driver, and it wasn’t long before Betty joined him in the cab to drive as well. They started out driving for the former Road West Trucking Company traveling from coast to coast. As their family grew, they decided to stay a little closer to home and became owner/operators, hauling freight for Cimarron Express Trucking in Genoa, Ohio, until their retirement in the late 1990’s.
Betty loved all things Native American and throughout the years decorated her home with her treasures. Spending more time at home allowed her to work on putting puzzles together and word search and even enjoyed a little camping. Like most grandmothers, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. There was always time to spend with them, no matter what was going on!
Those loving family members include her son, Jeff (Rhonda) Cuevas, daughters, Jeannie (Steve) Harder, and Deborah Maynard, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mike Cuevas, daughters, Sheri Hayes, Connie Maynard, and Leslie Kay Maynard, grandson, Shilo Conner, great grandson, Austin Klatt, brothers, Harley and Lowell Todd, and sisters, Vivian Phillips, Beatrice Manylovich and Marylee Todd.
Visitation for Betty is scheduled from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, followed with a funeral service at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Betty’s family suggests that any memorial contributions be directed to the donor’s favorite animal rescue or shelter.
