Bette J. Gaydos, 91, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born in Port Clinton, OH on June 20, 1919 to Edward and Juanita Crawford Kohanke. On December 3, 1938 in Marblehead, OH she married John Gaydos and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1996. Bette was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She had been a member of CIC for many years being involved in the Golferettes. She was an avid bowler and part of the 600 club. She was an avid sports enthusiast, loved music and dancing and was a graduate of Port Clinton High School. Family includes, children, Judith Ann Ronald Sprankle of Crestline, OH, Jan E. Judith Ann Gaydos of Huron, OH, Jayne Sara Wavle Adkins of New Carlisle, OH, 7 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Etta Kohanke, niece, Debbi Jackson, and nephew, Brad Kohanke. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband John of 58 years and brother, Jack Kohanke. Visitation will be held from 4-8PM on Thursday, August 12, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH at 11AM, Friday, August 13, 2010, where additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in Catawba Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Stein Hospice of Sandusky, OH.
