Beth Hickman

R. Elizabeth Beth Hickman, age 55 years, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1957, in Morrow, OH, to Howard and Cora Belle Spurling Whitacre. She graduated from Little Miami High School in 1976, where she was the class Valedictorian. Beth received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Toledo in 1980 and her Masters in Business Administration. She worked in health care, 17 years at Riverside Hospital and then went to Mercy Health Partners and most recently was the director of Corporate Responsibilities for Catholic Health Partners, Northern Ohio. She was a dedicated volleyball and softball mom as well as a CAT Attack Robotics supporter. Beth was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Gregg Hickman; children, Lisa Jeffrey Peters, Amy Hickman and Roger Hickman and a soon-to-be grandson, Drake Peters. She is also survived by her brother, Dale Whitacre, and sister, Marcella Ernest Reatherford. Beth was preceded in death by her parents. She fought Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 3 times and beat it twice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Paul Schaefer and Dr. Rex Mowat and the staff of 4C at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Beth. Friends are invited to visit from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue, west of Corey. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH. Contributions, in memory of Beth, may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
