Bessie May Swift

Bessie May Swift, 82, of Woodville, formerly of Genoa, passed away early Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon. Bessie was born March 27, 1933, in Auburn, Indiana, to John and May (Stebing) Reid. She married Eugene A. Swift in Genoa on May 23, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2000. She was a 1952 graduate of Genoa High School. Bessie enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and was an avid Elvis fan. Years past she had been a former Girl Scout leader. Surviving Bessie are her daughters, JoAnne (Ray) Echelbarger and Judy (Charles) Bonecutter both of Northwood, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, and sister, Betty Weaver, preceded her in death. Visitation will be held 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials for Bessie be given to Woodville Township Vol. Fire Dept., P.O. Box 121, Woodville, OH 43469.
