Bertha Lee Wood, age 92 of Newcomerstown, OH and formerly of Toledo, passed away September 6, 2011 at Union Hospital in Dover, OH. Bertha was born October 3, 1918 in Randolph County, WV to Leonard and Flora Smith Kittle. A devoted mother of 10, she was preceded in death by husbands, Carl Edward Alexander and Jack Wood. Bertha is survived by five of her children, Betty Robert Gunter, Sarah Ira Johnson, Evie Denny Nimigean Siminiak, Lee Edward Alexander, Sr. and Reba Larry Allen; 37 grandchildren; 122 great-grandchildren; and 84 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, Bertha was preceded in death by children, Flora Bronikowski, Bertha Brown, Carl J. Alexander, Sr., Sylvia Johnson, and Mary Lou Wright; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 4-7:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where a memorial service will follow at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donors choice.
