Bertha Mae Sanns

Bertha M. Sanns, 77, of Marblehead, OH, passed away, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born on November 23, 1935, in Minford, OH, the daughter of Monroe and Flossie Dutton Fannin. On August 9, 1963 she married Richard L. Sanns in Marysville, OH, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2003. Bertha worked as a desk clerk at Our Guest Inn in Port Clinton, for 14 years and 31 years for Ranco in Plain City, OH. She was very involved with charity work. Bertha volunteered for Easter Seals of Central, OH where she received the Jimmy Crum Golden Lily award, she was a member of the Moose Lodge #1610 and Women of the Moose #281, where she received the College of Regions award, David W. Leonard Aerie #2295 in Port Clinton, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #113, Blue Star Mothers and Disabled American Veterans of Marysville and Plain City, OH, she was the District 11 president with the Plain City, OH, VFW Auxiliary Post #3268. Bertha will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Special Friend: Garrett Lee of Port Clinton; Sons: James Melody Burchett of Phoenix, AZ, Donald Burchett and Randall Joan Burchett both of Plain City, Douglas Donna Webb and Dennis Webb both of Marysville; Special Daughters: Kate Butcher of Charleston, WV and Twyla Webb of Marysville, OH; 6 Grandchildren: Virgil Erb, Courtney Morant, Shannon Bodine, Chelsea Burchett, Dustin Burchett & Austin Burchett; 9 Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Chester Fannin and Sister-in-Law: Violet Fannin. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Sanns, parents, sisters: Inis Rick, Clifton Bitzer, Ulia Fannin, Gladys Godfrey & Ethel Burdette, brothers: Arthur Fannin & Teddie Fannin. Visitation will be 3-6pm, Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a Women of the Moose service at 6:00pm. Interment will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City, OH.
