Bernice E. Cook-Runner

Bernice E. Cook-Runner, 89, of Millbury, died Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Bernice was born to Fred and Minnie (Rauch) Nehls on April 28, 1928, in Oak Harbor, Ohio. On October 19, 1947, in Oak Harbor, she married Russell E. Cook and he preceded her in death September 30, 1975. On May 7, 1988, in Latcha, Ohio, she married Gibson Gib Runner he preceded her in death September 24, 2006. Bernice was a beautician for 50 years. She served as the secretary at Zion Lutheran Church for 13 years where she also taught Sunday school for many years. Bernice was a 25 year member of the Alpha Tau Kappa Sorority. Bernice loved to travel the world. Over the years she visited Australia, Iceland, Europe, Nova Scotia, Mexico, the Caribbean and several South American countries. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery and selling her creations at various sales each year. Bernice is survived by her children: Linda (Robert) Knight of Toledo, Cinda (Gerald) Knight of Kalkaska, MI, and Randy (Carol) Cook of Perrysburg, seven grandchildren, 14 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister: Lucile Humphrey, brothers: Arthur, Alvin, Edwin, Lester, Olen, Frederick and Carol Nehls. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa and 10 -11am, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551, with funeral services conducted at11AM. Burial will follow in Salem Township, Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family has suggested memorials for Bernice to Zion Lutheran Church.
