Bernard J. Toth

Bernard J. Toth, Jr., age 69, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at The Toledo Hospital. A native of Toledo, Bernie was born November 15, 1941 to the late Bernard Sr. and Ruth Schwanzl Toth. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Bernadette Szymanski Toth on October 21, 2006. A 1959 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Bernie started his career as an engineer with Dana Corporation following his graduation from the University of Detroit. He later joined his father in their family business, Toth Industries, serving as President for many years and advancing the business along with his brothers, Tom and Rick. His memberships included: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Crosby Gardens, the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Museum of Art and the Toledo Zoo. In his free time, Bernie enjoyed playing golf and tennis as well as traveling, especially on family vacations and to visit his daughters at their homes. He was blessed to have recently vacationed to Disney World with his daughters, son-in-law and granddaughters. Bernie was a true engineer, very detail-oriented and always embracing a challenge whether at work or in his personal life. He will be most remembered for his fun-loving nature and his selfless compassion to the needs of others. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Laura Toth, Vero Beach, FL and Kathleen Jason Siers, Parker, CO; the lights of his life, granddaughters, Abigail and Amelia; brothers, Thomas Bonnie and Richard Carol Toth, both of Sylvania; several nieces and nephews; and his many wonderful friends, especially Marilyn Ward. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Society or a charity of the donors choice. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at The Toledo Hospital for their compassionate care of Bernie.
