Bernard R. Paskiet

November 25, 1936 — February 2, 2010

Bernard R. Paskiet, age 73, passed away Tuesday Feb. 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. The son of Stanley and Gertrude, he was born Nov. 25, 1936 in Toledo. He was a 1954 graduate of Macomber High School. Following high school he completed 4 years as a Lather apprentice. In 1968 he started Ohio Ceiling and Partition Company, a small lath and plastering company. OCP Contractors is now one of Ohios largest wall and ceiling contractors with the completion of well known projects including; the Medical College of Ohio, Radisson Hotel, 4 Seagate, Franklin Park Mall, and most recently the 10 story Toledo Hospital Renaissance and the new Lucas County Arena. Barney was a member of the Associated General Contractors of Ohio. He served on the Labor Management Committee and participated in collective bargaining for the Carpenters, Painters and Plasters unions. Barney was an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church and proudly served on their Building committee. As a member of Stone Oak Country Club, he served on the Building committee, participated on the new pool project, and served on the Board of Directors. He was honored to have a menu item at the club named after him, the Barney Burger. Barney was very generous with his time and talent having helped many individuals and his community. He was a budding artist, working with glass to create beautiful pieces, as well as clocks, benches, furniture, bird houses, and wind chimes. He was passionate about fishing and golf, but his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, children; Lori Jack Pasienza, Nadine Matt Townsend, Amy Doug Schutt, Constance Paskiet-Smarszcz, Matthew Paskiet, Peter Gretchen Paskiet, grandchildren; Jaclyn Matt Lowry, Mark Michael Pasienza, Clark Halie Townsend, Madeline, Emily, Anna Rose Schutt, Joshua Katie Desmond, Anja Phoebe Smarszcz, Sophia Eva Paskiet; great grandchildren, Clara Lowry, Lucas, Zoey, and Ellie Desmond; brother, Eugene Sharon Paskiet, sisters, Roslie Ann Don Koch and Christine Harold Bruker; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2:00-9:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd with a scripture service at 7:30 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will on Friday at Little Flower Catholic Church at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Resurrection cemetery.
