Bernard C. Black

April 6, 1927 — April 8, 2010

Black Bernard C. Bud Bernard C. Black, age 83, left us to be with the Lord on April 8, 2010. He was born April 6, 1927 to Bernard F. and Edna E. Black in Toledo, OH. After graduating from Burnham High School in Sylvania, Bernard joined the Navy and served as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class during WWII. He loved to build. He rebuilt a barn that he moved to his property to house horses for his three sons and later renovated, what was originally a log cabin in Perrysburg, where he lived until moving back to Sylvania. He loved being at home and at his cottage at Barton Lake but most of all he enjoyed being with people and the way that they responded to him. Bernard deeply loved his family, they were his main focus in life and he will continue living through them. Bernard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wayva Comstock; sons, Bradford Kaye, Baron Margie and Benet Karolyn; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Colleen Pickering of Toledo and brother, Bob of Douglasville, GA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard of Simpsonville, SC. Friends may call on Monday from 3-8:00pm and Tuesday from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will follow at 1:00pm.
