Bernadette Marie Baker passed away peacefully February 9, 2017. She was born in Toledo May 31, 1940 to Martha and Alphonse Jasinski. Memories make us who we are. Bernie was robbed of her memories due to the ravages of Alzheimers. She fought the disease with grace and strength. She often said I wont give up. As a young girl Bernie dreamed of travel. It was a dream come true . She and Dick traveled to all 50 states and several foreign countries. During Dicks career they lived in five states. In some of those states she pursued her own career. This included getting her real estate license in California. While in Indiana she got her general contractor certificate, built five homes and managed several rental properties. Later she went on to get a series 7 brokerage license. As busy as she was, her family always came first. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband, Dick; daughter, Lisa; son, Greg; granddaughters, Shaunessy and Cassidy. Also surviving are her sister, Cynthia; brothers, Terry and Edward Swartz; nephew, Mark Hess. She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother and father-in-law. Family will receive friends from 10:00AM-11:00 AM Thursday February 16, 2017 at Epworth United Methodist Church 4855 W. Central Ave. where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Epworth or AlzCare 2500 Reynolds Rd Toledo, OH 43615. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Kingston Care Center Sylvania. Bernie received excellent care throughout her three year stay. Also many thanks to so many Epworth friends whose prayers we felt on a daily basis.
