Benny Murphy

Benny (Pops) Murphy Benny (Pops) Murphy went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2019, at his home in Walbridge, Ohio surrounded by his family. He was born on February 2, 1943 in Thomson Georgia to David and Bertha Murphy. He is leaving behind the love of his life, his lovely wife of 42 years Beverly Murphy, son Ken (Laurie) Auger, daughter Laura (Brad) Murphy and Brett (Nicole) who was like a son to him. His grandchildren Cameron (Emily), Kendra (Chris), Kayla (Josh), Lindsi & Nichole (Matt). Great grandchildren Gavin, Natalee, Charlotte, Sophia and Emmaline. Sisters, Dot (Roger) Harlow, Linda (Milton) Williams, Lois and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Robert, Paul, Earl, Marvin and his sister Betty. His life was devoted to his family and his wife Bev. He loved being with his family especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He served in the Marine Corps serving as a Lance Corporal, he was very honored to serve our country. He worked for General Motors Company (Powertrain/Toledo) as a job setter until his retirement. He loved fishing, shooting at the range, riding motorcycles, camping and looking at old cars. He also enjoyed traveling to his sisters in South Carolina and Virginia and he especially loved driving around in his Polaris. He loved sitting outside in the sun where he could enjoy a nice book. Benny was loved by so many and his family will continue to cherish his legacy and live on through the lessons he has taught us all. The only lesson he didn’t teach us was how to go on without him, but he is now our guardian angel and he will forever be missed. A special thanks to the nurses and aides of Ohio Living Hospice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17th from 1:00pm- 8:00pm at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133). A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, 3665 Genoa Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Memorials may be directed to Ohio Living Hospice.
