Bennett R. Burton, 72, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania. He was born June 11, 1944 to Bennett W. and Artie Mae (Blanton) Burton in Wayne, Michigan and he married Helen J. Singer on July 8, 1967. Bennett honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked for over 30 years for General Motors where he proudly made American vehicles, before retiring in 2007. He was a huge OSU Buckeyes fan and always displayed his OSU and American Flags. His family’s fondest memories spent together were camping and fishing. His passion in life was coaching and mentoring, as well as golfing. He was also fond of all sorts of gadgets, especially kitchen gadgets. Bennett was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who was always there for his family. His gruff sense of humor was unmatched and he will greatly missed. Bennett is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Helen Burton; children, Dawn (Stephen) Hargraves, David R. (Melissa) Burton and Terry A. Burton; grandchildren, Casey, Joshua, Jessica, Evan and Adelyn; great grandchildren, Payton, Logan and Seth; siblings, James A. (Sue) Burton, Diane (Russ “Pete”) Herroon, Rebecca S. (Larry) Willeman, Steven B. (Deb) Burton and John A. (Kathy) Burton. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Anthony H. “Tony” Burton. Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to Neville Funeral Home, Southwest, (419-865-8879).
