Benjamin R. Chio, 85, of Oak Harbor passed away Tuesday, September 08, 2020 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH. He was born on September 4, 1935 in Oak Harbor to Benjamin R. and Ada M. (Jeremy) Chio. On May 28, 1955 in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor he married Eileen L. Clayman, and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2017. Ben served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and then worked for the U.S. Department of the Interior for the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, retiring in 2005. He was a longtime member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Ben is survived by his daughter, Robin Brewer of Oak Harbor, son, Jeremy Chio, and daughter, Regan Chio both of Dallas, TX, 9 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, brother, Harold (Irene) Chio of Millbury, sister-in-law, Marjorie Zak of Oak Harbor, and brother-in-laws, Robert (Connie) Clayman of Illinois and Daniel (Holly) Clayman of Huron, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Evelyn Reno, Ardella Zunk, Madilyn Throne, Betty Rose, Shirley Rose, and Reva Valenic, brother, Walter Chio, and daughter-in-law, Theresa Chio. Visitation for Ben will be Friday, September 11, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Per the State mandate, facial coverings are required at all services and social distancing should be observed. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Becky Bolander 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Oak Harbor American Legion & V.F.W.
