Benedict Lesniewski, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 14, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, at the age of 78.
Born August 21, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Benedict was the son of the late Thelma (Bosh) Lesniewski and Benedict Vincent Lesniewski. He pursued a career in civil engineering and built a reputation for his skill, integrity, and dedication. For 37 years, he worked as a tilt-up buildings cost estimator with the Rudolph Libbe Group, where he contributed to countless projects before retiring in 2006. His precision and commitment to his work left a lasting mark on colleagues and the industry alike.
Above all else, Benedict was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Henry Lesniewski, whom he married on December 17, 1971; his son Erik (Sarah) Lesniewski; his daughter Brecken (Sean) Cutler; his grandchildren, Owen, Paxton, and Ellen; and his sister Mary Ann Ratliff. He will be remembered by them for his steadfast love, guidance, and warmth.
Benedict’s life was also rich with music and the outdoors. A talented trombone player, he shared his gift for more than 50 years, spending much of that time performing with the “Last Tuesday Night Band,” which entertained audiences during the last week of each month at the original Tony Packo’s Restaurant. He also loved fishing—especially pike fishing—and treasured annual trips to Canada with his son Erik, a tradition they began as soon as Erik was old enough to drive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Benedict Vincent Lesniewski, and his niece, Hidi Ja.
Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of Benedict’s life in December. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or The Kidney Foundation.
Benedict Lesniewski will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love, respect, and joy. His music, laughter, and stories will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew him.
