Beatrice Elaine Bess, she was always called Elaine, aged 94, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 2, 2019 at Genacross Lutheran Services-Retirement Community in Toledo, Ohio. Elaine had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. Most of her life was spent providing a loving home for her husband and three boys. She was happiest when she was with her family, attending mass, had a good supply of Hershey's chocolate, was playing bingo, or singing along with the musical entertainment provided at her residence. She enjoyed playing the piano and always loved good music. She was also a fan of the Detroit Tigers. She never lost her sass. Most importantly, her strong Catholic faith and love of Jesus sustained her to the end. She was born December 24, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Esther (Dantzer) Stoll, and was the eldest of five children. Elaine was married for 52 years to the late Raymond Bess. After marrying in 1957, they lived in Detroit before relocating to Sterling Heights, MI and then Toledo. Elaine is survived by her three sons: Ken (Sheila), Jim (Jean) and Gary (Linda). She was preceded in death by her brothers Arthur and Walter Stoll and her sister Beverly Pircer. She is also survived by her sister Janet Hellmer (Bob). Elaine was always the delighted grandmother to her 8 grandchildren; Corey, Amy (Gregory), Adam (Alison), Steven (Sarah), Helen (Nathon), Ryan (Leanna), Zachary, and Andrea, and 2 great-grandchildren with a third on the way. She was overjoyed when she met her great-grandchildren Phoebe and Rhett. Elaine's presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends, just as memories of her laughter will always remain with all who knew and loved her. Visitation with her family will take place at 10am Friday June 7th, at Genacross – 131 N Wheeling St, Toledo, OH. A Christian service will follow in the chapel at 11am. Her family is thankful for the loving care provided to Elaine by the staff at Genacross and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial contribution to Genacross Lutheran Services in Toledo and Hospice of NW Ohio
