Beatrice Mae Baird

Beatrice Beatty M. Baird, 92, of Genoa, died early Thursday, February 4, 2010, in Heartland of Waterville, Waterville, Ohio. Beatty was born March 25, 1917, in Genoa, Ohio, to Verne and Jenny Scott Plantz. On February 4, 1939, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, she married William W. Baird and he preceded her in death February 26, 1970. Retiring in 1985, Beatty worked as a cashier for the former Platts Five Dime in Genoa, which later became Dollar General. She was a member of the Genoa Christian Church. Beatty enjoyed working in the yard and taking special care of her flowers, and she especially enjoyed making fudge. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a birthday party and loved to attend her children and grandchildrens activities and sporting events. Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, William Ward Baird, granddaughter, Gail Marie Wilkins, great grandson, Thomas Dugan Baird, brothers, Thomas, Robert, and Kenneth Plantz, an infant sister, and her parents, Verne and Jenny Plantz. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, William S. Baird, Robert P. Jenean Baird and Gerald V. Baird, grandchildren, Matt Kristy Baird, Tim Baird, Brooks Mary Baird, Brandi Baird, Karen Baird, 12 great grandchildren, and her brother, Eugene Plantz. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 6, 2010, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, where funeral services will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Clay Township Cemetery. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donors choice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone at Heartland of Waterville for their love, care and support.
