Barry L. Mattimore, 79, of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home. Barry was born October 30, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Howard “Pete” and Nell Mattimore. He graduated in 1960 from DeVilbiss High School and served in the United States Army. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from the University of Toledo. Barry managed a special educational program in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and taught special education reading and math in Monroe, MI public schools for 30 years.
He loved to participate in his group men’s breakfast and 1960 DeVilbiss luncheon. He traveled extensively, played golf, rollerbladed and was a movie buff. Barry was a member of the Maumee United Methodist Church.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sharon Traudt; brothers-in-law, Sheldon (Jack) Dively, Joseph (Jane) Traudt, nieces and nephews, Diana Rigsby, Donna (Joe) Christopherson, Michael (Beth) Dively, Joe Traudt and Jeff (Suzie) Traudt, as well as many dear cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Dively and nephew, Tom Dively.
Friends and family will be received Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9-11 a.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
