Barbara E. Thomas

Barbara E. (Wheeler) Thomas, age 85, of Defiance, Ohio and formerly of Monclova and Maumee, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Maumee to Lafe and Violet (Ackerman) Wheeler. Barb worked as a clerk for A P Grocery Store, Zwyer Egg Farm and also was a nail technician at the Villager in Waterville, Ohio. She taught ceramics and loved to make ceramic and porcelain dolls. Barb is survived by her son, Robert Thomas; daughters, Janet (Jim) McGaharan and Sharon (Tom) Christy; step-daughter, Carol Vann; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Wheeler and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Homer and brothers Hershel and Howard Wheeler. Family and friends may visit the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
