Barbara J Schwartz

Barbara J. Schwartz Miss Barbara Ja Schwartz, of Toledo passed away Saturday July 2, 2011 in her home. She was born on October 15, 1955 the daughter of Carl and Jean Schwartz. She is a graduate of Sylvania High School; she went on to receive her master’s degree at the University of Toledo in 1992. Barb began her teaching career at Good Shepherd Catholic School. She then went on to pursue her passion of teaching the developmentally handicap for Toledo Public Schools at Woodward and Start High Schools for many years; she became very active in students extracurricular activities such as band boosters and volleyball. She completed her teaching career at Start High School. Her students loved her creative teaching style. Barb truly cared about each of her many students. She prided herself on teaching them skills they used to become more independent adults. Barb also enjoyed participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program helping children to have good role models. Surviving are her brothers, Bill (Kimberly), Rick (Linda), Tom (Kay), and Jeff. Nieces, Casey (Jeremiah Gallaher), Kennedy, Goddaughter Samantha; and great niece, Jocelin Gallaher. Nephews, Jordan, Max, Gunther and Mitchell; and Great nephews, Isaac and Lucas Gallaher. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 401 Tomahawk Drive, Maumee, Ohio 43537 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4635 Richmond Road, Suite 103, Cleveland, Ohio 44128.
