Barbara B. Schultz

Barbara B. Schultz, age 89, passed away on Aug. 23, 2011 at Toledo Hospital of pneumonia. She was born Oct. 16, 1921 to Dr. Van Wyck and Florence Vogel Brinkerhoff in Toledo, OH. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1939. Barbara married Walden Schultz on June 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her brother Van Wyck Brinkerhoff and sister, Caroline Misch. Barbara was a homemaker, residing in Ottawa Hills until her last remaining year, which was spent at West Park Place where she received excellent care. She was a lifetime member of Sylvania Country Club where she loved to play golf. She also had a home in Dillon, CO with her husband and enjoyed worldwide travel. Barbara is survived by 3 daughters: Christine Dennis Claypool of Sylvania, OH , Sandra Rick Smith of Sicklerville, NJ, Heidi Schultz Alan Newell of Ottawa Hills, OH; 5 grandchildren, Erik Brandy Smith of Mesquite, TX, Jennifer Jones of Toledo, OH, Stacey Christopher Gallo of Clayton, NJ, Elizabeth James Hoehner of Sylvania, OH, Alex Erin Newell of Playa Del Rey, CA; 7 great grandchildren and former son-in-law Jack Jones of Toledo, OH. She is also survived by her feline companion, Zena. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Barbaras life will be on her 90th birthday in October of this year at Maumee Bay State Park for the immediate family only. Burial will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Special thanks to the 7th floor ICU staff at Toledo Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Humane Society, or Evans Scholarship.
