Barbara Roberson

BARBARA KOERNER ROBERSON Barbara K. Roberson, 76, of Rossford, OH died Thursday, February 2, 2012 in her home. She was born in Toledo on December 19, 1935 to Koerner and Margaret (Moon) Leutz and was married in Toledo on August 2, 1986 to Scott C. Roberson who preceded her in death on September 2, 2007. Barbara was a graduate of the University of Toledo, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree of Education, and later received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan. She worked as a librarian for a total of 33 years, first with the University of Toledo Library, then at the Maumee Branch Library where one of her favorite jobs was working and traveling on the bookmobile. She then worked for many years at Way Public Library in Perrysburg where she retired. While at Way, she was instrumental in archiving early history in the local history department. Her memberships included, P.E.R.S., the Knit Wits, the Ohio Library Association, and the Ohio Reads literacy program. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Toledo where she was serving as librarian, and currently was in charge of the church archives. She is survived by her daughters, Karin Kaye (Richard Alvarado) Bean of Perrysburg and Kristin Anne Johnson of Toledo; stepsons, Scott, Thomas and William “Fritz” Roberson; grandchildren, Jason Bean, Ocean and Evangalista Alvarado; brother, William Leutz of Sapulpa, OK; sisters, Margaret Ann Swain of Clark Lake, MI and Elizabeth L. (Dean) Frazen of Round Lake, MI; special friend and Chaplain, Robert Rudolph; beloved cats, Cindi and Chessy. Memorial services will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the First Unitarian Church of Toledo, 3205 Glendale Ave., Toledo, OH 43614 with Chaplain Robert Rudolph officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial services will be private in Union Hill Cemetery in Bowling Green. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the First Unitarian Church, or to the Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter, 32 Hillwyck Dr.,Toledo.
