Barbara Jane Pigott was born to Charles "Cub" and Volera (Tuttle) Ueberroth on May 31, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, and passed peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1955. She met the love of her life, John Arthur Pigott, who grew up only a block away from her home. Together, Barbara and John spent a lifetime gathering beautiful memories, loving and guiding their family. They were often found together in local restaurants, "in the back, in the booth, in the corner, in the dark." John and Barb were married for nearly 62 years and were rarely more than a moment apart. A friend once commented that they were "two bodies but one soul".
Barbara devoted much of her time to her husband and children but also proudly worked for the Teamsters and in the front office of John's pediatric clinic. Like her husband, Barbara built lasting bonds with many patients and generations of families in the greater Toledo area.
Due to an early childhood illness, Barbara was consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and dressed only in blue and white for the first seven years of her life. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, she remained steadfast in her Marian devotion throughout her life.
Bubbly, friendly, and always wearing a warm smile, Barbara brought light and energy to every room she entered. Her excellent, selfless listening skills earned her many friends, and she was known for saying to many, "You are my new best friend!" Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo and making the occasional visit to the casino but found her greatest joy in sharing time with her beloved family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her cherished husband, John Arthur Pigott, her parents, Charles "Cub" and Volera; her son, Michael; and her sister, Carol "Topsy" McAvoy. She is lovingly survived by her children: John (Kathy) Pigott of Sylvania, Karen (Steve) Munsat of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Thomas (Kerry) Pigott of Sylvania, and Denise (John) Monaghan of Sylvania. Her love will continue through ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who fondly called her "Gamo".
Family and friends are invited to visit Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3 p.m. until the time of a funeral ceremony to honor Barbara's life at 6:30 p.m. She will be privately laid to rest next to her husband at Toledo Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of Kingston Sylvania for their compassionate care, and to the residents for their cherished friendship.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
