Barbara J. Moan

The family of Barbara Jane Moan, age 91, mourns her passing. Barbara was living independently in her home up to the time of her death on May 5, 2012. She was born in her home at Garfield Place in East Toledo to William and Gertrude Reddish on April 8, 1921. Barbara graduated from Waite High School and Wittenberg University where she majored in Music. She belonged to Psi Sigma Iota French Honorary Society and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority where she was president her senior year. Barbara and her husband, Harlan were avid golfers at Heatherdowns Country Club and enjoyed time with friends at the Toledo Club. They were members of Epworth United Methodist Church. Barbara was very giving and civic minded. She belonged to Quest Garden Club, the Toledo Symphony League and the Toledo Opera Guild. She was a docent at the Toledo Museum of Art and she was a member of the Ability Center Auxiliary. Wherever she was and whatever she was doing, Barbara was gracious, caring, smiling and empathetic to everyone she met. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Marsha Robert Palmer and Marilyn Dave Brunn; her grandchildren, Wendy Ben Gericke, Christie Scott Dietrich, Kim Heintschel and Teddy Heintschel; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Noelle Scott, Paul Scott, Sierra Smith, Cash Gericke, Sophie Gericke, Kylie Smith, Caden Dietrich, and Jaely Jo Gericke; and great-great-grandchildren, Austin Schill and Arianna Lehman; and son-in-law, Ed Heintschel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Moan; her daughter, Cheryl Heintschel; her brothers, Max Reddish and Robert Reddish; and her sister, Ruth Hicks. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 10 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church.
