Barbara Ann Meeker

Barbara Ann (Galant) Meeker was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 15, 1947 to Eugene and Catherine Galant. Barbara grew up in South Toledo, attended Jones Grade School and graduated from Whitney High School. After graduation, she trained and became a Cardiac Technician for the Cardiac Unit of St. Vincent Hospital and later at Riverside Hospital. In 1970 Barbara met her future husband, Brian Lee Meeker. They became husband and wife on January 15, 1972. Their love gave them two beautiful children, Jennifer Lynn and Brian Keith. The family became members at the Church of the Cross, where Barbara wrote and edited the church news letter as well as serving on the Communion Committee. Barbara accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while attending Church of the Cross. Christmas and Easter were very special to Barbara. Barbara loved to cook and bake especially during the holidays. The real treat was her gingerbread cookies. In 1995, she and her husband moved to Florida. But after 10 years moved back to Ohio to be near the grandchildren. She was diagnosed with Parkinsons years earlier and progressed into her later years. She loved her family and never let her advancing Parkinson’s interfere with birthdays and other activities. On December 4, 2017, Barbara was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and on December 26th the lord received Barbara’s loving spirit. No one will ever fill the void left with her passing. The family you made will cherish all the memories and love you forever. Surviving Barbara is her loving husband, Brian; daughter, Jennifer; son, Brian (Lisa); grandchildren, Brian, Olivia, William and brother, Gene Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services and interment will be private.
