Barbara Worden Manny

Barbara W. Manny, age 89, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born October 16, 1928 in Englewood, NJ to Harold and Marion (Tillinghast) Worden. She was the granddaughter of the prominent golf course architect, Albert Warren Tillinghast who was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2015. One of Barbaras favorite stories was when she was perhaps five years old . The famous Bobbie Jones would visit her grandfather Tillinghast and when Mr. Jones would pace with his hands behind his back, Barbara would follow behind him with her hands behind her back. Barbara was a 1946 graduate of Scott High School in Toledo and of the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy in 1951. Barbara worked at Flower Hospital as a registered pharmacist. She married Everett Mike Manny on September 18, 1954 and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Barbara and Mike traveled extensively in Europe visiting France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Austria, and Switzerland. They went to Egypt, Kenya, and Morocco in Africa and also traveled throughout Canada and the United States, including Alaska. Barbara was a member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years and sang as a Soprano in their Chancel Choir. She also sang with the Lourdes College Choir and traveled with them to London and Hungary. Barbara is survived by her husband Everett Mike children, Clark Manny of Pittsburgh, PA, Claire (Herbert) Carson of Athens, OH, Monica (Carl) Ralston of St. Paul, MN, Eric Manny of Findlay, OH, and Melissa (Detlev) Knabe of Charlottesville, VA and Berlin, Germany; grandchildren, Trisha and Michelle Tyo, and Jonathan and Melina Knabe; sister-in-law, Marilynn Hazard of Sylvania, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Worden of Powellton, WV; and sister, Marjorie Olson of Kingston, TN. Visitation will be from 4-8:00pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00am.
