Barbara Irene Mack

Barbara Irene Mack of Toledo, Ohio departed this life on January 19th, 2021, at the young age of 77. Barbara was born on November 23rd, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Melvin and Mary (Rice) Birt. Barbara attended Whittier Grade School and graduated from Woodward High School in 1961, where she was very active in many clubs, including being a majorette. She attended Davis Business College. Barbara married the love of her life Edward Mack on June 15th, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio. Barbara taught Sunday school instruction and was the church administrator at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and a life-long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she served faithfully on the altar guild. During her professional career, Barbara was employed in Toledo and Maumee. She retired from Paramount Health Care in 2014. Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents and sisters, Melba Jean, Sherry and brother Jerry Birt. Surviving are her husband, Edward; sons, Jeffery (Jennifer) Mack of Toledo, Ohio, Jason (Sheryl) Mack of Lewis Center, Ohio, Joel (Naomi) Mack of Fort Worth, Texas; grandsons, Daniel and Lucas Mack and granddaughters, Marissa and BreAnna Alvarez. Barbara loved her family immensely and was happiest when her entire family was gathered. She cherished her children and grandchildren, and her time with them. Barbara was happy to entertain many friends while boating on Devil’s Lake in the Irish Hills, Michigan. She especially enjoyed wintering in Fort Meyers, Florida with her beloved husband Edward of nearly 60 years. Barbara was loved so very much and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 4 – 8pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) Masks and social distancing will be required. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3934 Laskey Road., where a service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Bradford Scott presiding. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Laskey Rd.), or to a charity of the contributor’s choice.
