Barbara D. Hammye

Barbara D. Hammye, 77, of Walbridge, Ohio, died Sunday morning, February 23, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born May 13, 1936, in Eva, Alabama, to Levert and Mildred I. Bartlett Miner. On October 15, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio, she married William L. Hammye, who preceded her in death September 10, 1985. For many years, Barbara owned and operated Barbs Beauty Shop in Genoa. She was a loving grandmother, who greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her children, Kathy Hammye Dan Slates of Elmore and Ronald Hammye Amy of Canton, MI; grandchildren, Jordan Deck and Jessica Hammye; special friend, Ernie Shelton of Walbridge; sisters, Brenda Carter Jim Tomor of Curtice, Linda Carter Jim of Walbridge, Marsha Miner of Alabama; brothers, Rick Miner Shelley of Maumee and Steve Miner Molly of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Roy Miner and Clifford Miner and sister, Pat Russell. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family suggests that memorials for Barbara be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
