Barbara A. Haefner

Barbara Ann Haefner, age 72, died surrounded by her family on April 5, 2025, at Hospice of NW Ohio, Ebeid campus. The youngest of three, Barb was born on July 12, 1952, to Roy and Elizabeth (Ross) Decker. She grew up in the Toledo area, graduating from Sylvania High School in 1970, where she met her high school sweetheart, Lou Haefner, and they wed in 1972.

Family was the center of Barb’s life, from raising her children and grandchildren to maintaining her close sibling connections. She was the biggest fan of her grandchildren and supported them in every activity and interest.

Her cooking and baking brought family together. She enjoyed making stuffed shells, carrot cake, pies, cookies, and cheesecake to name a few. Lou and Barb enjoyed time sailing on Lake Erie, lake life, and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle. A long-time animal lover, she always had her fur babies nearby, specifically Luke, Winston, and Meeka. Other favorite pastimes included watching soap operas and Hallmark movies, reading, going on walks with her sister Sharon as well as lunch with friends.

Barb is survived by her husband, Lou Haefner; children, Louis (Jennifer) Haefner and Brandi (Andy) Green; grandchildren, John, Matt, Edie, Lucy, and Winnie; siblings, Ronald (Lana) Decker and Sharon Estep.

She was preceded by her parents, Louise, her sister-in-law, and Paul, her brother-in-law.

Barb will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held on May 10, 2025, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.), with a memorial service beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Toledo Animal Rescue or Hospice of NW Ohio in Barb’s honor.
