CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF BARBARA KNIGHT EDWARDS

With hearts full of love and memories, we announce the passing of Barbara Knight Edwards, whose golden soul brightened our world for 80 years.

Barbie ‘Bahama Momma’, as she was affectionately known to all, departed this life peacefully on May 14, 2025, leaving behind a symphony of beautiful memories.

Born November 20, 1944, in Perrysburg, Ohio to Milton and Dorothy (Gardner) Knight, Barbie's journey was marked by her radiant spirit and boundless generosity. Her voice filled rooms with joy, whether she was singing her favorite show tunes or sharing laughter with friends. Music and theater were passions that defined much of her life, much like her unwavering love for animals, who always found a home in her caring embrace.

After her education at Maumee Valley Country Day School in Ohio and Garland Junior College in Boston, Barb found her heart's home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her life was rich with interests that reflected her vibrant personality – cheering enthusiastically for the Nittany Lions and “wahoowa” for the Virginia Cavaliers, perfecting her swing on the golf course with friends, serving aces on the tennis court, riding horses at the Teton Valley Ranch, finding peace in boating on Smith Mountain Lake and in early years deep sea fishing with her family in Bimini. She lived fully, always taking time to appreciate life's simple beauties.

In later years, Barbie and her beloved husband of over 34 years, George, settled in Naples, Florida, though her spirit remained connected to the waters of Penhook, Virginia, where they spent many summers at Waters Edge. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming – a testament to her belief that life was meant to be shared.

Barbie's legacy lives on through her husband, George Edwards; her brother, Milton Ford "Tony" Knight, her children, Cameron ‘Cam’ Beach and Catherine ‘Cat’ Beach; her stepson, Gregg Edwards and grandson, Carter Edwards. Each carries with them the warmth and light that Barbie so freely gave.

We invite all whose lives were touched by Barb's golden presence to join us in celebrating her life on June 6th at 3:00 Carranor Hunt and Polo Club, 502 E. Second Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Barbie will be privately laid to rest with her family at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

As Barb would want, let us gather not only in mourning, but in celebration of a life beautifully lived and deeply loved.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warriors would honor Barb's compassionate spirit and dedication to causes close to her heart. (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/)
