Arthur Morgan

November 18, 1938 — August 12, 2025

Arthur A. Morgan was born on November 18,1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. He died August 12, 2025.

Art was born to the union of the late Arthur Morgan, County Armagh, Ireland and Catherine Murphy of County Cork, Ireland who met and married in Cleveland, Ohio. Art was always proud that both his father's family Northern Ireland and his mother’s family of County Cork Ireland fought for Ireland's independence from England.

Art met his wife, Barbara Laux while he was the Business Manager of the University of Toledo Campus Collegian student newspaper and Barbara was on the editorial staff. They reconnected when Art's fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon hosted Barbara's sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, for a Sadie Hawkins day party in 1961.

Art graduated from the University of Toledo in 1962 with a Finance degree in the college of

Business Administration. While in college he was President and Treasurer of the UT Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Business Manager of the UT Campus Collegian student newspaper and a member of the University of Toledo senate.

Art was a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps reserve.

After graduation Art joined the Toledo Trust Co. in 1963 as a teller rising to Vice President in charge of the Real Estate Division of the Trust Department retiring in 2004.

Art and Barb married on June 16,1962. They had two children and 5 grandchildren. Jenny (Austin and Allison) and Jeffrey (Parker, Carter, and Connor).

Art was active in the community serving as an officer or on the Boards of Directors or Trustees of various organizations including longtime treasurer of Downtown Kiwanis, Sub Board of the Greater Toledo Community Foundation, Board of Directors of Sunset House, Board of Trustees of the YMCA Bowman Pool and President of the Roy C. Start High School Band Boosters. Art served as the baseball coach at Elmhurst Elementary School. He qualified as coach of Roy C. Start High School swimming and diving team so they could compete in state meets.

He gave annual lectures at Midwest Trust School on Real Estate Management in trust accounts and was on the Board of the 4H foundation.

After retirement Art became employed as a consultant to the Trust Company of Toledo and continued as an advisor to many of his former Trust clients.

Art loved tent camping, white water rafting, and traveling, especially his trip to Ireland to find his family. His family was the light of his life. Art and Barb took their whole family on wonderful trips after they both retired. He loved helping Jennifer with Austin and Allison making many trips to schools, after school events and other activities. Art and Barbara frequently traveled to Atlanta to spend time with Jeff and his family. All of his grandchildren brought him great amounts of joy. The grandchildren were lucky to have so much of his time and attention.

Art is survived by his wife Barbara of 63 years and two children Jennifer (Rob Boehme) and Jeffrey (Jessica Morgan) and their five grandchildren Austin Nafziger, Allison Nafziger, Parker Morgan, Carter Morgan and Connor Morgan.
