Arthur Wayne Mabrey

Arthur W. Mabrey, age 67 of Maumee, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1947 and graduated from Clay High School in 1965. After service in the United States Army in Taipei, Taiwan, Art began his 43 year career at Unisys Corp. During this time, Art returned to college and received his business degree at the University of Toledo. Art married his devoted wife, Shwu, in 1969 and was passionate about his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children and granddaughter as well as being Uncle to his Taiwan family. He loved telling his favorite granddaughter stories to friends and family. Art was an avid photographer who was always open for new adventures. He traveled the world with his family, visiting many gardens along the way. He enjoyed books, was instrumental in creating the Maumee Friends Reading Garden at the Maumee branch library and was a former president of the Maumee Friends of the Library. Since childhood, Art was an enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Tigers. Art also loved spending time with his friends and neighbors. Art will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Art is survived by his wife, Shwu, daughter, Christine, son, Arthur Jr. (Amanda) and granddaughter, Allyse, as well as his sister, brother, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a loving family in Taiwan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Iris as well as his beloved Aunts Vera and Virginia. Friends are invited to visit from 10 am to 12 noon on Monday, September 8, at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee with services immediately following.
