Arthur L Downey, Sr.

Arthur L. Downey, Sr., age 96, of Walbridge, passed away at his daughter Darlene’s home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Arthur was born in Toledo, Ohio to Ruth Julia and Eldo Lee Downey on January 10, 1921 and was a graduate of Clay High School in Oregon. He was a proud WWII Marine Corp veteran. Arthur worked as a fabricator for Libbey-Owens-Ford Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1986. He was married to Violet L. Downey, who preceded him in death, and then to Patsy R. Downey, who also preceded him. He was a member of the Marine Corp League Devil Dogs and the Walbridge Post of the VFW #9963. Arthur was preceded by his wives, two grandchildren, and three siblings. Left to cherish Arthur’s memory, are his children, Robert (Margaret) Downey, Sandra L. Downey, Darlene (William) Marshall, Arthur Downey, Jr., Suzanne (Gilbert) Rubio; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; brother, John Downey; and special nephew, Paul (Joyce) Downey. Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121) on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-8 PM. with Marine Corp League Services starting at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM. with Pastor Vern Matanick, officiating.
