On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, Art P. Schaller, loving husband and father, passed away in his home at the age of 51. Art was born in Thailand on November 20, 1969, to Kenneth and Surat (Youngtong) Schaller, and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1987. He joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1988-1991 as a Ground Radio Communications Specialist, completing an overseas tour during the Persian Gulf War. In March 2010, he married Melissa Szabo and embarked on his most fulfilling and proud journey in life, as a father to his three girls, Paige, Emma, and Quinn. Art always knew how to enjoy life and live it to the fullest without hesitation. No one was ever a stranger to him. Whether it be a loved one, good buddy, coworker, or a friend in passing, he aspired to make those around him happy. Art was the person to drop anything for anyone, making you feel at home with his witty banter, playful nature, and unforgettable jokes and tricks. Whether it be shooting his wife with a Nerf gun, scaring coworkers at Dayton Freight, or sneaking up on the girls at home, Art kept you on your toes. His compassionate spirit, generosity, and fearlessness never went unnoticed. With a personality bigger than life, Art embodied the life of the party. That never stopped, even as he found his place as a husband and father. Art’s family is a symbol of the love that he encompassed. Around every corner, there is a piece of Art and the heart that he opened up to anyone. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Schaller and Surat Schaller. He will always be Artie Vegas to surviving family members, his wife, Melissa, daughters Paige (P-Funk), Emma (E-Money), and Quinn (Q-Dizzle), and loving brother to his siblings Dom, Lite, and Ann. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Thank you for all of the love and support given to Art’s family through this hard time.
