Arnold H. Henry

Arnold H. Henry, 89, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Hospice of NW Ohio, surrounded by his loving family on August 25, 2023. He was born on September 27, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to his late parents Arnold, Sr. and Grace M. (Wall) Henry. He was raised on a farm in Quincy, Kentucky, where he attended Vanceburg High School. He furthered his education at Morehead University graduating in 1956. He moved to Toledo in 1968 to advance his career joining Owens Illinois. He worked for 25 years, traveling worldwide before retiring. He then worked at Manville in Waterville for an additional 10 years before retiring again.


In 1956, Arnold met Jean Loring, while they were working together in Cincinnati. They soon fell in love and married in 1957. Together, the couple shared 66 beautiful years of marriage, fostering wonderful memories and deep love. Arnold and Jean raised three daughters, which were his entire world. Family meant everything to him, and he was devoted to spending time with his wife and children. They went on many family road trips and cruises. Arnold and Jean enjoyed 38 cruises all over the world. He and his wife vacationed with their two grandchildren every summer. They were extremely dear to him.


Arnold was a longtime member of Maumee United Methodist church and the Masonic Lodge in Maumee. Those closest to him will remember him as person always ready with a joke. He was a great storyteller and was quite a brilliant man. He was incredibly loved by his family and will be extremely missed by all of those who knew and loved him.


Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean Henry; daughters, Diane (James) Daniel, Debra Grace Bryan, Denise (Mike) Sands; grandchildren, Jeremy Daniel and Jean Olson; great grandchildren, Anna Bryan and Aiden Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Norene Henry (who raised him after his mother’s early death); son-in-law, Robert Bryan; and five uncles.


All are welcome to visit at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH, on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, August 28, from 11:30a.m.-12p.m. at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St, Maumee. Arnold’s Celebration of Life will follow at 12 p.m. Interment will be private.
