Arnold John Coci

Arnold John “A.J.” Coci, age 82, of Toledo, died February 4, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born January 29, 1939 in Toledo to the late Albert and Dorothy (Stevens) Coci and graduated from Macomber High School in 1958. A.J. retired in 2001 as a draftsman from Owens-Illinois after more than 32 years of service. In his free time, he loved working in his wood shop where he was an incredibly skilled craftsman. He also enjoyed birdwatching and going on “road trips”, especially through Oak Openings - one of his favorite places. A.J. was a longtime member of Augsburg Lutheran Church where he had been a Bible school teacher and youth leader. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and siblings. A.J. will be remembered for his warm, inviting personality and his dependable, systematic approach to life. He was a great storyteller and a friend to everyone. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Mark Coci, Michael Tanner, Lisa Tanner Edwards and Steven Tanner; grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Alexa, Zoe, Mason and Ashley; siblings, Donna Coci, Doris (Guy) Schafer, Larry (Nancy) Coci and Leah Barhite; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela and brother, Albert. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Committal will be private. Face coverings and social distancing are required at all events. Contributions are suggested to Nature’s Nursery to support wildlife rehabilitation.
