Arlynne M. Gold, age 81, of Sylvania, died on September 1, 2016, at the Ebeid Hospice Center. Born in Detroit on December 26, 1934 to Nate and Mynne (Slobasky) Mazer, she moved to Toledo in 1957 with her husband of 56 years, the late Dr. Kalman Gold. Arlynne was fondly known as “Bubbe” (or the “Bubster”) to her four grandchildren. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Arlynne was passionate about golf. She was the winner of numerous club championships at Sylvania CC and at Bonita Bay CC in Bonita Springs, Florida where she spent winters for several decades. Arlynne also carded 9 holes-in-one. More important to her were the countless life-long friendships she forged on the golf course. Preceded in death by her husband, Kal. Arlynne is survived by her son, Brian (Janie) of Burr Ridge, IL; daughter, Susan Mehall of Williamsburg, VA; grandsons, Michael Cain, and Jonathan, Jordan, and Jake Gold; her beloved granddaughter (actually “granddog”), Bella; her sister, Donna Wexler; and brother, Donald (Winnie) Mazer. The family will hold a celebration of Arlynne’s life for relatives and friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25 at Sylvania Country Club. For those planning a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Mary Ellen Falzone Diabetes Center (c/o Promedica Toledo Hospital Foundation) or the Ebeid Hospice (c/o Promedica Flower Hospital Foundation). The Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family. The Gold family expresses unending gratitude to the doctors, nurses and other staff at Flower Hospital (where Kal Gold had been the Chief of Staff), and her girlfriends, all of whom took loving care of her.
