Arlene M Best, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed to be with the Lord on Saturday July 2, 2022, at St Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by family and love.
Born September 19, 1931 to Andrew J and Julia A (Marco) Langel. Arlene was raised in the Birmingham Neighborhood. She attended Holy Rosary, Central Catholic (1949) and the University of Toledo. This is where she met the love of her life Thomas B Best Sr. They married in 1953 and were blessed with the large family she always wanted. Never idle, Arlene was meticulous, an excellent seamstress, chef and baker but most of all a devout Catholic who spent many hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament and to the end could be found with her rosary in hand praying for all of us.
Arlene lived remarkably through all the trials and tribulations of her long beautiful life and set the great example that all of us should live by. We will miss the warmth, love and laughter that you gave to all of us.
Arlene is proceeded in death by her Mother, Father, Husband, many Brother-in laws and Sister-in law, Sisters Delores Langel and Charlotte Langel, and Children, Kathleen, Michael, and Timothy J and Granddaughter, Lili.
She is survived by her sister Joyce M Fouty, Mary Lou Shortridge, children, Thomas (Susan) Best Jr, Susan Best, Daniel Best, and Laura (David) Walker. She was Nana to Shannon (Joel) Michaels, Timothy W. Best, Michelle (A.J.) Schlea, Andrew (Jacqueline) Best, Nicole (James) Bailey, Thomas Best III, Jordan (Miranda) Pohl, Ryan Best, Alex Best, Dylan Best, and Tilly Best. Great-Nana to Mikey, Riley, Keagan, Myra, Mia, Henry, Jordan Jr, Marynn, Mallory, Poppy, Lili, Kira, Lincoln, Jude and Walker, many nieces, and nephews, all of her other children, and “that guy” Scott N Cirgenski.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Nurses at St. Vincent’s for their love and care.
Viewing will be held at Walker Funeral Home Thursday July 7th from 4-7pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral on Friday, July 8th at 10am.
In remembrance of Arlene’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Living Christ Capital Campaign at Toledo Diocese or The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
