Arella Jordan, age 86, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence. The daughter of Hamp and Velma Love, she was born March 29, 1935 in Greenwood, Mississippi. She attended the University of Toledo where she received her Bachelors of Education. Arella worked for Toledo Public Schools. On December 18, 1955 she married the love of her life, Andrew Jordan. She was a fan of western movies and television shows, especially ‘Gun Smoke”. Arella enjoyed gardening, reading Harlequin Romance novels, seafood and hard candy. She was candid, funny, liked to talk politics and will be remembered for her strong, kind and elegant personality. The many laughs and serious conversations will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Bernice King, Jordana Shakoor, Mary (Jeff) Strong, Velma Shockley, Evonne (Kitch) Mitchell; grandchildren, Ali Andrew Shakoor, Joy Woodward, Keymoh Shakoor, Janelle Weatherspoon, Margaux Shockley, Crystal Shockley, Courtney and Little Kitch; and a host of great grandchildren. Arella was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; parents; and brother, William. Visitation and services will be private. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at Hickman Cancer Center for all their care and kindness they provided.
