Ardith B. Ardy Gaines

Ardith Ardy B. Gaines, 82, of Graytown died Sunday April 6, 2014 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born on December 29, 1931 in Genoa to Gaylord P. and Freida Recker Sheldon. On March 3, 1951 she married Glen G. Gaines. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1998. Ardy, along with her husband Glen, owned and operated the Country Keg in Graytown for over 20 years and the Country Keg II in Genoa for 5 years. Ardy was always glad to rip out a tune on her banjo for her customers. Ardy drove school bus for Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools for 10 years, and sold Tupperware for 22 years. Ardy was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. Ardy and Glen always supported youth programs in Oak Harbor for years. She always said her biggest accomplishment in life was her kids and their families. Ardy is survived by her children: Tony Pat Gaines of Galena, OH, Terry Kathy Gaines of Oak Harbor, Jeff Debbie Gaines of Graytown, and Kim Mokey Dusseau of Graytown; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Maxine Burdue, brother: Buck Bassett Sheldon, and special friend: Lee Woodward. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Genoa with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ardy may be directed to the Rocky Ridge/Graytown Baseball Association or the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters.
