Antoinette Mcgrath

Antoinette F. “Ann” McGrath age 95, of Perrysburg, Ohio entered eternal life peacefully at her home Friday, December 10, 2021. Ann was born January 29, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA to Pasquale and Antoinette Malatesta. Her father was a tailor, and her mother was a seamstress who often made dresses for Ann and her four sisters. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ann aka Nannie as she was fondly referred to by her grandchildren, was known for her fabulous sense of humor. Her impeccable style was present in all aspects of her life including entertaining, decorating, cooking and fashion. A role model for all women, Ann was a hard-working businesswoman. In the late 1950s, she and her husband opened a beauty salon, Chris Edward’s Coiffeurs, which was connected to their home in Springfield, PA. The couple ran their business together for nearly 30 years. Ann had many hobbies including singing and acting. She was always the star of the show. Ann also enjoyed playing her piano, golfing, playing bridge and dancing. A fantastic cook, her family will always remember her famous meatballs and sauce. Surviving are her sister, Edith Patterson; daughter, Kathlene (William) Jernegan; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Alexander; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lynn) Ruple, Joshua (Jody) Alexander, Michael Jernegan, Alexis Jernegan, Matthew (Elizabeth) Jernegan, and six great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by husband Christopher Edward Alexander; second husband, James McGrath; father, Pasquale Malatesta; mother, Antoinette Malatesta; son, Robert Edward Alexander; and sisters Rose Xaras, Lorraine Guiccenario and Eleanor Damiano.
