ANTHONY J. SYLAK, JR. Anthony J. Sylak, Jr. 83, of Waterville, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at The Waterford of Levis Commons surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was born February 18, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to Anthony James, Sr. and Victoria (Maroszek) Sylak. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953, as a tank operator, currently known as an M1 armor crewman. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo in 1959. He married Betty Rusch on November 4, 2005. He started his professional career as an accountant for Surface Combustion and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee. Anthony was a Detroit Red Wings Fan and enjoyed watching The University of Toledo football. He was most proud of his polish heritage. Along with his wife, Betty, Anthony is survived by his son, George Sylak; step-daughter, Pamela (John) Thieman, step-son, Kenneth (Michelle) Rusch, brother, Edwin (Bonnie) Sylak and numerous loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank Sylak and sister, Helen Raczko. Friends will be received Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133) where a funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Anthony’s name to the Parkinson Foundation of Northwest Ohio, 150 W. South Boundary, PMB #202, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
