Ann Marie Taylor McKenzie, age 87, formerly of Maumee, OH and Manitou Beach, MI, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 in the Heritage Inn, Bowling Green, OH. She was born November 11, 1921 in Sunbury, OH to Otto L. and Lillie May Daniel Taylor. Ann was a 1940 graduate of Bexley High School, Bexley, OH and attended Capital University Business School. Ann married Clyde McKenzie, Jr, February 7, 1944. She worked 31 years for the US Government, retiring from the US Army Main Battle Tank, Warren, MI, May 4, 1979. Her last assignment was the commanding generals personal secretary. After retirement she called home her property at Devils Lake that she and her husband developed together with their son, David. Ann also wintered in St. Petersburg, FL, 1200 North Shore Blvd. where she continued to play competitive bridge as she did with her friends at Devils Lake. During her life she was a totally devoted wife and mother, sharing in her husbands business and assisted in raising their son. Ann was quite accomplished in painting pictures, loved to do crewelwork, making quilts and sewing in general. Additionally, she loved planting flowers, which she exhibited at her home at Devils Lake. Most important were her grandchildren during the summer she had them at Devils Lake where they learned to swim and sail at the McKenzie Hideaway and the Devils Lake Yacht Club. Ann was a charter member of the Womens Auxiliary to the Toledo Bar Association, Maumee, PTA, Booster Club, President of the Womens Association of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Maumee, and president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary in Toledo. She was also a member of St. Petersburg Womens Club, Lake Bridge Card Club, Addison Womens Club Member, Devils Lake Yacht Club and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. The widow of Clyde McKenzie, Jr who passed away September 28, 1981, Ann is survived by her son, David Martha McKenzie; grandchildren, Craig McKenzie, Heather Gerald Bodnar and Megan McKenzie; great grandchildren, Hailey and Landon Bodnar; sisters, Lillie David and Garnette Speck; and brother, Otto Taylor. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by sisters, Iona Kagamas, Ottie Brake and Edith Hay. Family and friends may visit Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee.
