Andy Zekany, Jr.

Andy Zekany Jr., 88, of Port Clinton passed away Tuesday, May 03, 2011 at the Toledo Hospital, Toledo, OH. He was born on November 09, 1922 in Portage Township, the son of Andy and Mary Csorny Zekany Sr. On January 26, 1952 in St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH, he married Elinor A. Krepel and she survives. Andy served in the U. S. Navy as a Carpenters Mate Second Class, and was a member of the Seabees, during WWII, where he earned the Victory medal, American Area Asiatic Pacific-1 Star medal and the Good Conduct medal. He owned & operated A.Z. Builders in Port Clinton, OH, and then went to work for Mosser Construction where he retired in 1985. He also built numerous homes in the Port Clinton area and developed subdivision lots on Jackson Dr. and Glendale. One of his final projects and proudest accomplishments was building St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church. Andy was a member of St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, the Carpenters Union Local # 744, Moose Lodge #1610, American Legion Post #113 and the Port Clinton Yacht Club. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 59 years: Elinor A. Zekany of Port Clinton, OH; Son: Andrew J. Kimberly Zekany of Dallas, TX; Daughters: Kay Dan Klos of Ada, OH and Diane Larry Dunbar of Toledo, OH; Grandchildren: Andrew R. & Emily Zekany and Darin & Devin Dunbar; Sister: Elizabeth Betty Miller of Dublin, OH. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Anton Tony Zekany. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM, Friday, May 06, 2011, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH where a Parastas will be conducted at 3:00PM. The body will lie in repose, Saturday, May 07, 2011 at St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH from 9:30AM until Office of Christian Burial conducted at 10:30AM, by the Very Rev. Dr. Bryan Eyman. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in memory of Andy to St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church, 506 E. Main St., Marblehead, OH 43440.
