Alyce H. Ihnat, 89, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016. She was born December 27, 1926, in Port Clinton, Ohio, and was the daughter of Ovid and Josephine (Petersen) Hyde. Alyce was a 1944 graduate of Port Clinton High School. She attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Alyce played in the Cleveland Browns Marching Majorettes Band from 1946-48. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in education. Alyce taught in the Margaretta School system at Townsend Elementary School for 20 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and the Ohio Teachers Retirees Association. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John E. Ihnat; children, Paul E. (Lin) Ihnat, David A. (Patty) Ihnat, Suzanne M. (Larry) Roberts and Michael J. (Susan) Ihnat; grandchildren, Nicole (Ross) Gahn, Stephanie Wadsworth, Jason (Laura) Ihnat, Dustin (Michelle) Ihnat, Ben (Andrea) Ihnat, Allison Ihnat and Megan Ihnat; great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Gahn, Kyleigh Gahn, Madison Wadsworth. Carter Wadsworth, Sophia Ihnat and Juliet Ihnat and nieces and nephews. Alyce was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Emmitt Hyde and Robert Hyde. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
