Feb.2, 1927 - July 15, 2017. - Alvy O. Jones was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Crandon Wisconsin to Alvy and Laura Jones. He passed away July 15, 2017 at Magruder Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was employed at Quick Stir for 60 years. He served in the United States Navy in WWII and upon his release he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis and moved to Toledo. They would have been married 69 years on August 2nd. He loved to hunt and fish and root for his favorite University of Michigan football team. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis, three children, Jeffery of Port Clinton, Jean (Michael) Deis of Port Clinton and Jeri (Bill) Baker of Fremont. He has three granddaughters, Andrea (Chad) Halstead from Indianapolis, Indiana, Tiffany (Trey) Tassin from Little Rock, Arkansas and Rachel (Matt) Lewis from Tecumseh, Michigan, brother, James Pugh of Arizona, sister, Mildred Walker of Petersburg, MI and seven great-grandchildren, Carsen, Cooper, Amelia, Nora, Lily, Elijah and Bree. He was predeceased by parents, Alvy Jones and Laura Pugh, as well as step-father, George Pugh, and brothers, George Pugh Jr., William Pugh, Richard Jones, and sisters, Lorraine McCoy and Sylvia Finley. Friends may call 2-5pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Prayers will be recited at 10am on Wednesday, July19, 2017 in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St, Port Clinton, celebrated by Fr. John Missler. Interment will follow in Roose Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Northwest Ohio Honor Flight or to Immaculate Conception Church.
